The Verdae Area includes Hollingsworth Park and retail and healthcare developments surround this area south of the city of Greenville. Bounded by I-85, Laurens Road and Woodruff Road the Hollingsworth community is a gem in the making. With Charleston style homes in a "traditional" style neighborhood where parks abound and homes have rear entrances for garbage/maintenance services. The community was made to be a walking community with sidewalks and easy access to shops, parks and amenities built within the community.
The Hollingsworth name comes from the late textile magnate John D. Hollingsworth who originally owned the land and left it to Greenville. The magnate amassed over 42,000 acres in South Carolina. He was the single largest land owner in SC during his life. All profits from the Hollingsworth Park planned community go to benefit Greenville and the surrounding areas. The Hollingsworth foundation has already contributed millions to local Greenville organizations and charities.
The Preserve at Verdae Golf Resort is the golf course which is adjacent to Hollingsworth Park. The Resort has recently invested 3 million in renovations on a Willard Byrd-designed, 18-hole, par 72 championship course.
A prestigious retirement community the Cascades at Verdae is also part of the Hollingsworth Community. ICAR Clemson Universitie's International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR)
