The homes in downtown Greenville are mostly condominiums. Single home residences are located close by in the Hampton-Pinkney, West End & Overbrooke Historic districts, and the Augusta Road and North Main areas. West Greenville also has homes at a lower price point, but this area is starting to see a renaissance with several new home developments going in. The city of Greenville is pedestrian friendly and safe to walk, even late at night. Downtown is large enough for variety, but small enough to walk Main Street in fifteen minutes. Main Street is lined with mature trees which create a peaceful avenue. It has a Cosmopolitan influence with European style street cafes. There is live music on Thursday and Friday nights which closes Main Street off to traffic. The Reedy River and waterfall make for the spectacular Falls Park where Main Street crosses into the West End. Shakespeare in the Park play runs during the summer…free. There are outdoor concerts by the river on Wednesday nights by the Peace Center. Award winning Liberty Bridge is a pedestrian suspension bridge over the Reedy River waterfall. Downtown hosts an abundance of artisans near the West End. Greenville Drive Single A baseball team is a farm team of the Boston Red Sox and the games at Fluor Field, a miniature version of Fenway in Boston - complete with Green Monster, are a big hit. Downtown has undergone a makeover to achieve better pedestrian traffic with angled parking and a thousand stylish lampposts along Main Street. Additional draws for the downtown area include: Peace Center for Performing Arts, Children’s Garden, USA Cycling Championships for the past 3 years, Home of Artisphere…a weekend of artists and their booths each spring. These are just a few of the fabulous things downtown Greenville has to offer with more coming all the time.
